Since 2012, we strive to create leather and textile goods to be respectful for planetary limits. We know that there is always more that we can do to have a positive impact on the planet and we are eager to improve every day.

Material origin

The leather we use to create our products is sourced exclusively from Italian tanneries, certified in reducing the impact on health and environment in all phases of their production. This means that they have been given high sustainability ratings in all aspects of their production, from traceability to chemical use, from workers safety to waste.

We only use leather that is a by-product of the meat industry.

The textile used in our collection is rigorously natural origin material (with the exception of technical winter materials) and it is the remanence of the made in Italy textile productions.

Low Waste

In our manufacturing process it is quite usual to have the material waste in various sizes.

Some larger pieces of leather are used for creation of smaller products, but very small pieces cannot be used. Since we have started the company in 2012, we have collected all the pieces of leather left from our production. Even the smallest ones! Our idea is to recycle it soon by creating a new product!

Textile waste is used in our side project brand, called Oboyi huggers. We create soft puppets out of pieces of fine quality textile left from our clothing production.

Upcycling

One of the Oboyi projects created in 2017 – Saccus Volans is all about the recycle! We have created a limited-edition collection of bags created only with an old parachute and ropes. Bags created are waterproof and very resistant to weight and stress. Our intention is to save other parachutes and upcycle more.

Our packaging

Our packaging is made in Italy in natural raw cotton and it can be reused over and over again.

Our Carbon Footprint

All of our leather and materials are sourced in Italy and they travel by road or train to our studio in Milan, Italy.

We are happy to announce that we are contributing to lower the carbon footprint by planting trees where they are most needed!

Manufacturing

Each Oboyi piece is handcrafted in our atelier in Milan with meticulous care by artisan designer and owner Bojana Nikodijevic and her occasional collaborators.
